Our faith is founded both in the past accomplishments and the future promises of God. The resurrection of Christ happened a long time ago. Our resurrection will take place in the future. But this has a lot to teach us about how to live for God now.
As we look back to the resurrection of Christ and look forward to our own resurrection at the return of Christ, we serve him moment by moment day by day confident in his resurrection power.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
Be firm, incapable of being moved
Our faith is on firm ground. Christ has been raised! Don?t let anyone shake you out of this confidence. The evidence for the physical resurrection of Christ is overwhelming. Open-minded people who have studied the facts objectively show that the resurrection of Christ is one of the sure facts of history. Those who reject the evidence often do so because their religion or philosophy has already closed their minds.
But those who accept the fact of the resurrection are ready to accept all it implies. Not only do we put our trust in Christ, but we are confident in all things knowing that our faith rests on solid facts and living evidence.
Never give up serving, it will be rewarded
We are not saved by our good works. Heaven is a free gift. But how we live our lives in Christ determines our reward at the Last Day. The resurrection calls us to ask what we storing up by way of treasure in heaven.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20
Because we have this hope can be confident that nothing we do sincerely for Christ will go unnoticed or unrewarded. We also know that nothing we do in this life will last forever except living for him.
Let that resurrection life work richly in you this Easter as you renew your commitment to persevere in all that he calls you to do for him.
