The Word of God is In Control

God created the heavens and the earth by the Word of His power. He spoke life and light into being through His creative Word. He said ?Let there be?, and it happened as He spoke.

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers…

Today, by exactly the same power, God keeps on sustaining all things, and accomplishing His eternal will of salvation. I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ?My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure?. Isaiah 46:9-10
First, the Father purposes His will. Then, the Word declares it ? speaking out the Father?s purpose. Finally, the Spirit performs the Father?s will by working out every detail of His plan.
Dear friend, it is futile for people to attempt to resist God, for He always fulfils His will. Indeed before the day was, I am He; and there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it? Isaiah 43:13
I?m sure you know that a wonderful Day is coming when everyone will acknowledge God?s Word. Soon and very soon, every knee will bow, and every tongue confess, the glorious name of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
At that time, the effective operation of God?s Word will be plain for all to see. But, for now, we are called to live by faith. We have the privilege of working with God as He fulfills His Word on earth.

Isaiah 40:21-24

Our Lord Himself felt the power of the Word. It was not so much the devil who felt the power of ‘It is written” as Christ Himself. The manhood of Christ felt an awe of the Word of God, and so the Word became a power to Christ. To trifle with Scripture is to deprive yourself of its aid. Reverence it, and look up to God with devout gratitude for having given it to you.

The Operation of God?s Word

My friends, you must believe and act on God?s Word if you want it to work effectively through you. The Word must become living and active within you if you?re to become an effective instrument of God?s will where you are.

Hebrews 4-12 For the Word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.? ?????????????

Hebrews 4:12

First, you must let the Word work in you by giving it access to the deepest parts of your being. This means allowing God to search your heart and to expose those things which displease Him.? It is an awesome experience.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and see if there is any wicked way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

When you respond to God?s Word by eagerly inviting it to test your heart, the Word works even more actively within you to fulfil God?s will.

Lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?

James 1:21

As you go on humbling yourself before the Word?s infallible authority, and as you keep on submitting to its undeniable power, so God?s Word goes on working in-and-through you with ever-increasing effectiveness.

You must release the power of God?s Word in your life.? There must be a deep work of God in your heart to start the process.? The Word must grip you in the absolute centre of your life, and you must cling to the Word with every part of your being.

He will keep all His promises that He has given you
He will accomplish His good-and-perfect will in your life.

God's Word in Your Mouth is as Powerful as God's Word in His Own Mouth!

Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever! He?s still doing today everything that He did when He walked on this earth. He hasn?t changed a bit!

He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, at the highest place of the universe, and He is your Healer. Nothing is beyond His power or control. And He longs to release you from all sickness.
Some people don?t believe that Jesus has ever healed anyone. Others think that healing miracles were only for biblical times. Many believers have been taught that sickness is God?s will for their lives. My friend, these common attitudes rob God?s people of Christ?s healing power.
It?s a basic biblical fact that God is a healing God. He introduced Himself to the people of Israel with these words,? ?I am the Lord who heals you.?? This is a central covenant promise, and was God?s first promise after Israel had left Egypt.
After Jesus had survived His encounter with the enemy in the desert, He also introduced Himself to Israel as the One who was ?sent to heal?. This shows us that healing is central to God?s nature, and at the heart of His dealings with His people. It?s why Jesus ministered to the sick, and it?s why He wants to make you whole.
Sickness is part of Satan?s rebel kingdom, and it points to sin ? which lies at the root of all sickness. This is why Jesus hates sickness so much.
Sickness didn?t exist until sin came into the world.? This doesn?t mean that your sickness must be the result of your personal sin. It?s more likely that your sickness is a consequence of the general sinful, polluted condition of the whole world.
When Jesus served on earth, He forgave sinners and healed the sick. His power to heal revealed His authority to forgive. The one pointed to the other. Jesus has exactly the same authority today to heal all your sickness and to forgive your every sin.
He carried your sickness on the cross, and struck at the root of the sickness, at sin. Once sin had been dealt with, God?s healing could properly begin. This is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
But, dear friend, Jesus? healing ministry is a sign which points towards something far more glorious than even the best healing on earth.
All healing is just a tiny foretaste of the future glory of God, which will be dramatically revealed at the resurrection, at the total transformation of the body. When that day comes, my friend, you won?t be needing healing again ? for you?ll never get sick again!
This hope is a real comfort for people who do not experience healing on earth. Keep on believing God for your healing. Never give up through discouragement or doubt. Remember, Jesus never fails. He was, He is, and He will be your Healer.
My friend, take all these promises of God for healing and let the Holy Spirit touch you today at your point of need.
But, as you do this, please remember that your real hope is for the future kingdom when you?ll experience every blessing to the full.

If you heed the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.?

Sweeter Than Honey

The perfection of God?s Word is not just that it is God?s infallible and totally pure Word. The divine qualities of the Scriptures are also seen in what they do for us. God?s Word converts the soul by instructing us and making us ready for the full transformation of God.

The Word of God is sweeter than honey

God?s Word also brings joy as we live in purity and enlightenment. The Word cleanses us and warns us of dangers while enabling us to stand the tests of time. There are great rewards to be gained by walking according to God?s Word. No wonder the Psalmist says God?s words are sweeter than honey and more to be desired than gold.

Key Thought

God?s Word is something precious, something to be deeply desired. But you can only be aware of that once you see the benefits that come to you through the Word of God and put these things to the test by learning to love God?s Word and obey it from the heart.

Prayer

Dear Lord, teach me to love your Word. Help me to draw from it all the benefits you have for me. Help me to desire it more than the sweetness of honey and to esteem it more than the value of gold.

Discipleship Steps

The proper attitude for disciples of Jesus Christ is to carry the fear of the Lord in our hearts. This is the secret of a transformed life. But the fear of the Lord can only be communicated through a loving respect for God?s Word. As you read the Bible day by day, learn to be sensitive to the character of the God who wrote it. Be ready for him to reveal himself to you so that you can see him in all his glory. That way you will not only fear him but also love him for who he really is.

The Sharp Sword

God?s Word is not a dead book or a dead letter. It is alive with all the characteristics and qualities of God himself. It is pure, eternal, indestructible, powerful and revelatory.

God?s Word is like a scalpel that opens you up and exposes what is going on in your heart. But like the surgeon, God only cuts open in order to heal. That?s why daily reading of the Bible and seeking to discover its secrets for your life is one of the most important disciplines of the Christian life. The Word will show you the secrets, the thoughts and motivations of your heart.

Key Thought

God?s Word has the power to work within your heart. That way you will experience change happening from the inside out and not be trapped by the mere outward performance of religious duties. You gradually grow to be more like Jesus as each day you surrender to God?s Word in your life.

Prayer

Lord, I open up to your Word within my heart. Speak to me today and help me to listen. Help me to find in your Word the power and the joy to change from the inside out.

Discipleship Steps

The living Word is also the life-giving Word. This means, as you allow God?s Word to penetrate your heart, you will be changed. He will give you the courage to face the iniquity within, the strength to change it and the willingness of heart to go God?s way. This kind of motivation comes from the power the Word which heals and restores as well as convicts and corrects. Take God?s Word today as your strength for living as well as your standard for change.

A Light to Guide

God?s Word is like a lamp illuminating our path through life. He has not left us fumbling in the dark for direction.

God?s Word is like a lamp illuminating our path through life.

The Scriptures give us all the instructions we need to go through the whole of life. They provide detailed wisdom, insight and practical guidance day by day. The Psalmist also demonstrates the right response to this truth. God?s Word will show us how to restrain our steps from evil. We are to be teachable and willing to get understanding and align ourselves totally with God?s way. But in case we think this is something harsh, external or legalistic, the Psalmist also speaks about the sweetness of God?s Word to the taste. It is as delightful as honey to the mouth.

Key Thought

God?s Word is practical. It will enable you to have the wisdom you need to make the right choices in life. Armed with the understanding you gain from the Scriptures you can walk day by day in the will of God.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for your Word which is a light to my path and a lamp to my feet. Help me follow in your way day by day and give me the strength to do so today.

Discipleship Steps

One clear principle of the guidance of the Lord is that you really want to know God?s will and you are ready to pursue it with all your heart. How foolish to shine a torch in front of you in the dark while walking backwards in the opposite direction! This is exactly what we do when we read God?s Word but do not put it into practice. The right attitude is to love God?s Word and delight in it because we are determined to follow it completely. Only then will the guidance of God be real to us.

Be doers of the Word

All too often, knowing something, agreeing with it or giving mental assent to it passes for actually doing it! We live in a highly passive culture where there are many spectators but few participators. Take sports, for example. There are relatively few actual participators in the Olympic Games, and yet millions regularly view this event on television.?
Television makes us ?passive participators??in the world?s affaires. We watch, get emotionally or intellectually involved, but it ends there. We are in the end, mere spectators.
We are told that in every sphere of life, 80% of the results are achieved by 20% of the people. In the church also, the spectators outnumber the participators. But God wants us to move from being passive spectators to become active participators.
EXPERTS IN KNOWING WITHOUT DOING
All too often, we are experts in knowing what Jesus wants us to do, but we never actually do it. We say ?Jesus is Lord? but we don?t follow him as Lord. We hear about taking up our cross and following Christ, but in practice, we live for self and not for Christ. We are told to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbour as ourselves. We know it, but we don?t do it as we should.
God doesn?t want us merely to affirm it, sing it, shout it, hear it, read it, preach it, pray it, agree with it, watch it or applaud it. He wants us to do it. The Bible clearly identifies the difference between knowing and doing.
According to James, we have a tendency to be hearers of the Word, and not doers of the Word.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 1:22
James warns that faith without corresponding works is barren and unfruitful.
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2:17
You who say? do you??
Paul spoke of the scandal of religious people saying one thing and doing another. This was dishonouring to God in New Testament days and is equally dishonouring to him today.
You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? You who say, ?Do not commit adultery,? do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonour God through breaking the law? For ?The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,? as it is written.
Romans 2:21-24
You honour me with your lips but?
Jesus quoted from Isaiah the prophet in order to describe the religious pretence apparent in his day. What we do, not just what we say, is what we really believe in our heart.
These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

The God who watches over his Word

It is time to receive from God with a child-like Faith

“I am watching over my Word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:12).?When God speaks a word over your life, he watches over it until the time of its fulfilment. In this prophetic season many are nurturing promises given to them by God years ago. It is time to bring these out again and, together with the Holy Spirit, keep watch over them. That’s how we partner with the Holy Spirit in the fulfilment of God’s prophetic word to us.

God’s Word is living and active. It is a moving, breathing word because it is spoken by his living breath – the Spirit of God! Paul says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (God-breathed), and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

Notice he says “The Scripture is God-breathed”; not, “was God-breathed”. God’s word always IS. It is being carried upon God’s breath. What he spoke in years gone by – is still being spoken. Not a single word is lost or forgotten.

God says he is watching over the word he has given you: “I am watching over it; like a hen broods over her eggs”. The Hebrew word is shaqad which means “to be alert, to be awake, to be on the lookout”. We watch with him as we intercede concerning the word he has spoken over us. We watch with him when we believe that what God has said he has power to fulfil. Every word of God carries within it the power for its own fulfilment. He will never let his word fall to the ground.

Have you heard a word from the Lord, maybe recently, or perhaps many years ago? God has not forgotten what he said to you. It is time to bring that word before him and hold onto it with complete confidence that what he has promised he will fulfil.

I have a feeling that many of us are entering into a time of prophetic fulfilment. Keep that word fresh. Believe it. Proclaim it. Intercede over it. And wait for it – it will surely come!
