The Lord, Your Rock

As you call out to the Lord for his help, he will lead you into the path of his protection and shelter. He is the LORD your rock, your fortress and your deliverer. He is a strong tower and a shelter from the enemy. Trust him to do all that he promises to do and to bring you into his safety and security. Learn to abide under the shelter of his wings as you rest in his presence in the tabernacle of his glory. Trust him and he will surely do it.

Key Thought

The greatest thing you can do in a time of crisis is to pray. God will hear your cry from a million miles away! And he will immediately come to your rescue. Don?t let any circumstances, no matter how overwhelming or catastrophic, overcome you. Trust God and he will surely rescue you.

Prayer

Lord, I cry out to you. My heart is overwhelmed by the struggle against sin and those who oppose your plan. Thank you that you are my rock, my shelter and my fortress. I trust you to deliver me.

Discipleship Steps

God?s protection does not mean you will never be in situations of challenge or difficulty. Your enemy is against you and wants to stop God?s plan for your life being fulfilled. But you have divine protection in times of trouble. He has given you authority to trample on the serpents and scorpions sent by the enemy. So go boldly about the business of the kingdom of God and don?t be deflected in your commitment and resolve. God is with you!

Read: 2 Chronicles 32:7-8. Once again, God?s people were in a time of extreme difficulty.

Trust in the Lord, the Arm of Flesh Will Fail you

A powerful Assyrian army had swept throughout Israel conquering everything in its path. Now the entire army surrounded Jerusalem and stood at the door calling for surrender. Nevertheless, Hezekiah, king of Judah had the answer, ?Don?t be afraid there are more with us than with them!? Why? Because all the enemy had was a mighty army, but the people of God had a greater presence with them ? the LORD himself! One with God is a majority against any fleshly opposition. Trust in God ? not the arm of flesh!

Key Thought

There is no need to be afraid, dismayed or intimidated by anything the enemy does against you. God is with you and that?s enough for every situation. Trust in the LORD and don?t ever rely on the help of the flesh. How can mere flesh compare with the might and power of your God?

Prayer

Forgive me Lord for my doubts and fears. I refuse to be intimidated by the circumstances and people who oppose me and I choose to trust the power of God and not the power of man.

Discipleship Steps

Knowing that God is with you to help you fight your battles against the world, the flesh and the devil makes all the difference. Once you let God in on the situation it totally transforms before you. Your thinking changes as fear, doubt and intimidation disappear. You see the enemy for what he is ? a mere empty boaster. What is the might of man against the glory of God? And what can the defeated spiritual forces of Satan do against you? God is with you!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,?And lean not on your own understanding;?In all your ways acknowledge Him,?And He shall direct your paths.?Proverbs 3:5-6?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord

Today we see three principles of guidance. If we follow these steps God?s guidance will always be clear. We may not fully understand God?s leading, but we will always be clear on the direction we should be taking. Proverbs tells us first of all to trust the LORD with all our heart. Without this we cannot hope to hear God clearly, and if we do we probably will not be willing to listen to him anyway. Then, we must be willing to lay aside our own opinions and understanding in favour of God?s Word to us. Finally, we must be willing to obey what he says to us. These three things will bring God?s clear guidance.

Key Thought

Trusting God and his ability to guide you is essential. You must learn to reject all human or worldly-wise advice that goes against God?s clear leading in your life. Even if you don?t fully understand why God is taking you in a certain direction, you can be sure his way is best.

Prayer

Please help me, Lord, to hear your voice in the midst of so many other voices clamouring for my attention. I choose not to listen to the word of man or rely on my own understanding. Instead I put my trust in you and in your Word.

Discipleship Steps

Your natural inclination in situations of stress, confusion or challenge could well be to resort to your own wisdom or to rely on some human understanding of what you should do. But if you are determined to follow the Lord, you will wait patiently for the Lord?s way forward and rely solely on his direction for your life. In the end you will be glad that you didn?t rush ahead in your own strength.
