<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Recently, I spent a day visiting this free medical clinic for refugees and displaced people in Amman, Jordan.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="576" height="1024" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_1.jpg?resize=576%2C1024&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28676"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">First registered in Jordan in 1927, it was renewed in 1953 following the establishment of Israel in 1948.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Founded by Pr. Albert Hashweh Snr. Who, along with his family, came to Jordan as refugees from Palestine in 1947. The Hashweh family is well-known in Jordan for their Christian and humanitarian service to the many thousands of refugees present in Jordan following the conflicts in Kuwait, Iraq and the more recent unrest in Syria.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The church building was erected in 1988 the year before Pastor Albert passed away.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="580" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/christian_missionary_alliance_church_amman.jpg?resize=1024%2C580&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28675" srcset="https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/christian_missionary_alliance_church_amman-980x555.jpg 980w, https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/christian_missionary_alliance_church_amman-480x272.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /><figcaption><strong>Christian Missionary &amp; Alliance Church in Amman</strong></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Pastor Albert’s son, Yousef Hashweh is the Pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Amman, Jordan and since 1990, has worked extensively with refugees from up to 22 different nations in the Hope Clinic, English Language teaching, and refugee support, counselling and food aid.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="944" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_pastor_yousef.jpeg?resize=1024%2C944&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28680" srcset="https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_pastor_yousef.jpeg 1024w, https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_pastor_yousef-980x903.jpeg 980w, https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_pastor_yousef-480x443.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /><figcaption><strong>Pastor Yousef Hashweh</strong></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another son of Albert, Jamal Hashweh also works with refugees and hosts 5 hubs in Jordan where refugees mainly from Iraq, Syria and Sudan. The centres provide food parcels, friendship, micro industry or trade training and receive encouragement and support.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Victor Hashweh, son of Albert Hashweh, is well-known in the region for his work among displaced peoples as well as his translation work for the UN. He provides Christian teaching on Marriage and the Family and Christian growth and discipleship.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>HOPE CLINIC</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are some 1 million refugees in Jordan from Syria, Iraq and other nations. Without work or income they rely on voluntary groups for any help they can obtain &#8211; food, accommodation and medical care. The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Amman is one group providing help for refugees. They care for families, offering support and food. They also run the Hope Medical clinic, open two days a week staffed by volunteer medical staff. They provide free medical care for up to 80 people and families each week. Everything from pregnancy care to PTSD counselling is covered, but above all, the Hope Clinic is a place where people can be heard, valued and included.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MEDICAL CARE-SUPPORT- FOOD AID</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Without work or income, Syrian and Iraqi refugees desperate for medical attention. The Christian &amp; Missionary Alliance church provide care for 80 patients and families each week.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>TRAUMA COUNSELLING</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Refuges from neighbouring nations have lost families, income, homes and hope. Doctors, nurses and counsellors offer counselling and compassion.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_4.jpeg?resize=1024%2C683&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-28679" srcset="https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_4-980x653.jpeg 980w, https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hope_clinic_amman_jordan_4-480x320.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“We had a moving meeting with Iraqi refugees whose emotional stories brought tears to our eyes. At the end of the meeting every one of them prayed to receive Jesus in their hearts. We had lunch with them while my brother Jamal handed each refugee a foodstuff parcel.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>In April 2020 Amanda and I visited the </strong><strong><em>Love in Action</em></strong><strong> refugee project in Amman Jordan. There we met up with Jamal Hashweh.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jamal is from a refugee family himself. He knows what it is to have to leave his country, his home and come to a foreign place to start all over again. He explains, “When we visit refugees in their scant accommodation, we tell them we’ve been through it. We understand.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the last 30 years 2 to 3 million refugees have flooded into Jordan from Iraq, Syria and other neighbouring countries. Around 1 million remain to this day. They have left everything and now have nothing. They receive very little official help. Voluntary agencies such as Love in Action do what they can to assist.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The centre supplies regular food parcels for families who have little or no food. There are classes to teach language skills and offer other vocational training to help re-establish dignity and step towards self-sufficiency.</p>

<div class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter" data-effect="slide"><div class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_container swiper-container"><ul class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_swiper-wrapper swiper-wrapper"><li class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_slide swiper-slide"><figure><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="530" height="1024" alt="" class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_image wp-image-28665" data-id="28665" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IMG_6923.jpg?resize=530%2C1024&#038;ssl=1" srcset="https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IMG_6923-530x1024.jpg 530w, https://colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IMG_6923-480x927.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 530px, 100vw" /></figure></li><li class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_slide swiper-slide"><figure><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="679" height="1024" alt="" class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_image wp-image-28666" data-id="28666" src="https://i0.wp.com/colindye.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/jordan_refugee_centre_.andand_and_ladies.jpg?resize=679%2C1024&#038;ssl=1"/></figure></li></ul><a class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-prev swiper-button-prev swiper-button-white" role="button"></a><a class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-next swiper-button-next swiper-button-white" role="button"></a><a aria-label="Pause Slideshow" class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-pause" role="button"></a><div class="wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_pagination swiper-pagination swiper-pagination-white"></div></div></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jamal continues, “As we show them love in action, not only by words but by caring for them, praying for them, visiting them in their homes. We try to help as much as possible.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Love in Action Centre is open to all, both those from Christian and Muslim backgrounds as well as those who have no religion.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The center is in a neigbourhood of Amman where thousands of refugee families are housed. Most of them are in desperate need for essentials. Jamal is grateful for the provision of the refugee centre, “The Lord gave us this place, a kind of shelter, where people can come and enjoy a time of peace, get some trauma counselling and get some spiritual message. Also to learn some skills that will enable them to become self-sustaining.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jamal envisions having many more centres built on the model of showing&nbsp; Jesus’ love in action.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Concluding Jamal says, “Thank you for praying for us. Thank you for all you can do with us. This ministry is for Him, for his glory.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Please do what you can to support this worthy cause.</p>
